House Prices-On the rise or fall in 2011?

Tue, Jan 18th 2011 3:30 pm by Annalisa Jordan Charleston Real Estate

Will house prices bottom in 2011?

Hard question to answer! Here's some variables that might help us in the year that is ahead...

We need to continue to watch inventory and months-of-supply closely for hints about house prices. Right now, house prices are falling at about a 10% annual rate, so we are not at the bottom of house prices just yet! We should have expected home sales to drop, being that the first time home buyers credit is over. Home sales have since showed signed of stabilization and home prices WILL follow with a lag...

I think national house prices will decline another 3% to 6% from the October 2010 levels. I think it's likely that house prices will bottom in the first or...

Piccolo Spoleto is back again! The 2011 Spoleto ~EVENTS & SHOWS~

Tue, Jan 4th 2011 2:35 pm by Annalisa Jordan Local Events

It's BACKKKKKK! Everyone's favorite Lowcountry festival: Piccolo Spoleto. It comes with everything for the entire family, from the shows, to the dances, the exhibits, and is one of the largest events that happens annually in Charleston...And it is well WORTH not just your money, but certainly your time...You just can't miss out on this! So, here's the scoop...

Between the 'old school' charm, the structure of historic Charleston & the European roots that still permeate throughout the streets of the city, mixing in the Spoleto Festival here produces a unique and very fitting synergy for everyone who joins in and experiences this "international multi-arts festival. Mostly, you'll find artis...

Charleston is #2 for Top Destinations in the U.S....AGAIN!

Mon, Dec 20th 2010 12:07 pm by Annalisa Jordan Local Events

For the EIGHTEENTH consecutive year, Condé Nast Traveler magazine made Charleston a “Top 10” travel destination in the U.S. Charleston got the #2 slot - beaten by San Francisco by .04 of one point! This ranking maintains Charleston’s spot as the No. 1 east coast destination. Woo Hoo Charleston, you gorgeous thing, you...As for more credit to this historical city and its surrounding areas, here's what else popped up on the list:

Kiawah Island: #1 island in North America.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort: #3 in the Top 100 Resorts in the Mainland U.S. category and 29th on the Best in the World list.

In the list of top 100 hotels in the U.S, Charleston also had a piece of the pie:...

Some Charleston market statistics for you!

Mon, Dec 20th 2010 10:39 am by Annalisa Jordan Charleston Real Estate

The current Charleston housing market conditions so far, which is pretty much the end of the year, have been, well, so-so...Let's see the stats.

There are about TWO TIMES as many homes up for sale than have been sold in the past 6 months. There are more homes that were either withdrawn or expired & probable the more obvious - unsold than sold. Out of all the homes that are under contract, about 1,200 are contingent & about 500 are pending. most of the pending sales should go through and close, however not all of the contingents will.

So, a good question to ask: How many more homes are going to be added to the list of inventory that is already far exceeding the number of houses that are ...

Things that will not add value to your home

Mon, Oct 4th 2010 10:45 am by Financial Blogs

From Yahoo.com

Every homeowner must pay for routine home maintenance, such as replacing worn-out plumbing components or staining the deck, but some choose to make improvements with the intention of increasing the home's value. Certain projects, such as adding a well thought-out family room -- or other functional space -- can be a wise investment, as they do add to the value of the home. Other projects, however, allow little opportunity to recover the costs when it's time to sell.

Even though the current homeowner may greatly appreciate the improvement, a buyer could be unimpressed and unwilling to factor the upgrade into the purchase price. Homeowners, therefore, need to be careful with h...

After yesterday's big rally, Mortgage Bonds are moving higher today, despite the better than expected number from Retail Sales.

Both Stocks and Bonds are battling technical levels…Mortgage Bonds are currently up against a tough level of resistance at their 50-day Moving Average, while Stocks - as measured by the S&P 500 - are fighting to stay above their 200-Day Moving Average.  As you know, Stocks and Bonds tend to move in opposite directions, so the outcome of these tugs-of-war will dictate t...

Maverick Equipment Manufacturing Inc. makes giant hydraulic hammers that heavy-machine operators plunge into the ground, sending ripples through the freshly broken earth.

And the company might make a small dent in the Summerville economy as well.

The manufacturing and sales company, founded 12 years ago in Rhode Island, is now settling into a renovated 30,000-square-foot building at 2745 W. 5th North St.

Best Time to Buy!

Mon, Aug 16th 2010 1:02 pm by Annalisa Jordan Financial Blogs

Right now is one of the best times in our history to buy a home.  Interest rates are at their lowest and so are home prices.  The way to make money in real estate is to buy low and sell high, yet what created the current economic problems is just the opposite-people bought at the top of the market and now are trying to sell at the bottom. We need to reverse this buy buying now and allowing normal appreciation to acrue without expecting to get rich so fast on one transaction!
